The Heder GalleryA contemporary Israeli art gallery and multi disciplinary design studio The "Heder Gallery" is part of the "Heder" concept group that consists of 'The Kibbutz, Art Gallery' was founded by the Kibbutz Movement Federation shortly after the Six Day War in April 1968. Three years later differences of opinion between the bodies responsible for the gallery led to its closing. Thankfully it was reopened in April 1973 and in 1977 it was decided to appoint a professional director to the gallery. In the early eighties the gallery's curators and managers changed a number of times. The crisis which plagued the kibbutz movement undermined the gallery's standing in the Israeli art scene and in the early nineties it was nearly closed again. The gallery’s turning point came in 1995 when it was decided to open the gallery to expose artists and experiments regardless of whether they did or did not have a Kibbutz background. Since 2004 Yaniv Shapiro has been director of the gallery and it has focused on an obligation to art as an inseparable part of the discourse on Israeli culture and art.
