Red Crane

This image, together with it's counterpart - "Purple Crane", is one of my all time favorites.

The two images of the same construction crane differentiate only in their background: Red Crane's background symbolizes the "Male element" while Purple Crane's background represents the "Feminine element".

People have asked me whether the crane is a representation of the Cross.
I hadn't thought of it originally but the first time I was asked got me thinking...

Red Crane is the earlier of the two pieces, preceding Purple Crane by about half a year.
