Poetry in MotionMy teaching has the advantage of requiring that I constantly put up at least an appearance of having a genuine interest in Art. Seriously though, teaching requires that I set aside time for my own education. It was during such an occasion, while researching color theories and their implementation, for a lecture on the subject that I preparing, that I was first introduced to Op Art thanks the marvelous work of Israeli artist Yaakov Agam. Op Art, also known "Perceptual Abstraction" concerns itself with the interaction between the illusionary plane and the picture plane. It engages us in the split second between seeing and understanding. I enjoy Op Art for its ability to create an illusion of movement in abstract compositions.
